"Know what you want, believe you can have it, believe you deserve it, release it to the universe" - The Secret

Well since I last wrote to you all I have had alot happen, I was relieved of my job at Primus and due to that I have taken flight with my career within
the world of photography. Its an interesting life to lead specially now when I am living off my photography.

Recently I have hooked up with Tito Media and some of my photos are submitted to them, some of my photos can be found here: Veronicas at L'oreal - [link] :: Celebs at Melbourne Grand Prix - [link] NB: Not all the Versonica shots are mine.

Furthermore I have also been busy on set of Nicholas Cages movie "Knowing" as an extra, in one scene I play a University Teacher and in another scene I play a Parent ..on two scenes I was lucky enough to be within a metre of Nicholas Cage, who by chance shares the same birthday as me (7th january) except no the same year. Im up to day four on set of the movie, days last for about 10hrs and I have been known to be getting up at 4am in the morning to leave and get on set on time.

Its alot of fun, the days are long you can get weary towards the end of the day however I wouldnt change it for the world, its been a dream to be an extra on a movie, I didnt know that the first one would be a Hollywood feature film, but I gather I will have to wait till the film is released to see if I made it or hit the cutting room floor.

I have been working at Real People Victoria since about October last year and I love the opportunity and the people that I get to meet on a day to day basis. My boss, Frank Hargreaves is a man full of suprises and has many many untold stories of experiences that he has had in the Fashion and Film industry, I have only scratched the surface.

The current Featured deviation is a photo taken at the studio at Real People in Melbourne, Victoria. I have had comments already that the style of photography looks like Man Ray - [link]

I have many more works to come and lots of models to photograph as at the moment we are working on our 2008 yearbook.

I remember once watching a movie staring Heath Ledger ([link])
that showed a man who started from humble beginings could rise up as if from the ashes of a fire and change his life paths and in the end his "stars" to become something that others thought was not possible

For all those who read this and think you "can't" take time out away from everthing, be still, be quiet for a while an reflect on where you really want to be, hold that thought, focus on it each day when you wake up, be intune and passionette with what you want and it will manifest

And when you do so, people will start asking what you do different to them, and all I can recommend is that you advice that
nothing more then what they can do themselves

Through watching "The Secret" and self perserverance I have been able to finally start myself on my dream career path of which
I want to be working full time

I am now a photographer working for Real People Victoria: [link]

I look forward to keeping you informed with my travels as set forward on my new career path.

Follow your Bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls" - Joseph Campbell

Its been a very hectic and busy time since September, however all I can say is that the momentem wave that I am riding I
only want it to keep going and going and going

I attended the Motorola Spring Fashion week and Fashion Exposed in September with Media Access, this brings on a whole
new meaning, furthermore I also was involved with a fashion parade "Colors of Spring" were I was the Emcee, I was also
listed as the head photographer however in the end I dedicated myself to the Emcee task and had a close friend fill in
for me to shoot the photos.

I now have started on as a photographer for Real People Victoria, I use my EOS-1D to shoot models for comcards, Frank is
an excellent person to work with and I can only see my career going upwards from here.

:star::star: New Equipment :star::star:

You know the moment you tell someone that you have all there is you need for your camera layout, you basically are lying to yourself, well if your just starting out that is the case, yet again I spent some more money on my camera equipment only to leave myself to be eating tofu and rice for the rest of the month, well until I get paid again ..doh

The main part of my camera outlay was missing an external flashgun, being that I had a wedding to shoot it was a "must have" so I made sure I purchased one. It became more apparent after the disaster of my photos from Baroq House on Tuesday from the Fashion festival I was not going to let this happen again.

So $650 later I am now the proud owner of a Canon Speedlite 550EX E-TTL Flashgun + External Battery pack, now I do not feel so inadequate when I rock up some were and the lighting is crap ...

:star::star: Featured Deviation :star::star:

Lucky me, I was able to obtain access to the Motorola Spring/Summer Fashion Festival in Melbourne just recently and had the opportunity to take photos from the Media riser and rub shoulders with photographers from The Age, Herald Sun, Getties Images and many other organizations that had a photographic interest in the event

The featured photo was one of the designs from the "Objects of Desire" show that was presented on Friday night, the image was taken with a Canon EOS-1D with a Sigma APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX HSM (77mm). The camera was set to ISO400 - F/4 @ 320m, and a matter of timing was used to frame the model correctly within the image.

"Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still." - Dorothea Lange

Melbourne came alive with anticipation as the Motorola Fashion Week hit the catwalk at the Town Hall between the 3rd and 9th of September. Night after night different designers put there creations on display creating a buzz of discussions within the public and media sectors. I had the privilege of attending the town hall for Thursday and Friday and photographed some of the outfits, the RMIT Fashion show was my pick as there creations had no limits.

No sooner had the hype of the fashion week died down and the last drinks called for the after parties then a new Fashion week hit Melbourne "Fashion Exposed" came to Melbourne with some international designers debuting some of there latest fashion on the catwalk.
Some of the Designers included : Ayellet Kapuano, Frau Blau, Soul, Gospel, Musto, Glo Weave, Glitterat just to name a few.

Fashion on display ranged from casual and formal garments and specific target areas. Musto releases a range that covered all three areas, there main drive being there "All weather" clothing line, footage shown at there stall from some oceans races showed large waves crashing over a yacht however the persons on board under this clothing remained dry and protected. This photographer was quite impressed with the designers display and looks forward to more fashion shows.

Stay tuned as I will be attending the Fashion parades held by Anna Campbell.

Featured Deviation - Model Studio Shoot

:star::star: New Equipment :star::star:

Well when I last wrote I had purchased two new lenses, well I may have a Sigma 300mm F/4 coming my way however most recently I have purchased some studio lighting equipment which includes 2 x 250w Flashguns, 1 x Silver Umbrella, 1 x Umbrella Soft box, 2 x Stands, 1 x Wireless radio trigger. I thank Dominic from Dragon Image who hooked this up for me, he is the director of Dragon Image and as it seems I will be meeting him next week with relation to a job application

I cannot wait for tomorrow to come, well technically its already here as I write this as the flash guns are being brought done from Sydney and then couriered to my door so I will be cleaning the house a bit however I think I will spend it cleaning the fridge and the spare room. Least it will be nice and clean.

:star::star: Featured Deviation :star::star:

Well it seems that my major in photography lies with Model s, I find that I can look at a person and its almost as if I can see there inner beauty even if they don't know it themselves. I’ve seen people on the street from time to time that would look incredible in front of the camera, this happened today for instance on the tram when I was on the way to Dragon Image this afternoon, if only I had the confidence to strike up a conversation, I do have it though it depends on the situation at hand

Anyways the current feature was a photo taken at a studio shoot that I was paid to do about a week ago roughly, there were four models to shoot, I like this shot as it has a bit of an "air" to the photo, I know that may sounds weird but after looking at it a few times it seems to grow on you, I should be getting some more chances to shoot Aaron in the non to distant future

To give you a bit of background the photo of Aaron was taken with a Canon EOS-1D with the use of a Sigma APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX HSM (77mm) and a Canon 420EX Flash, we also had a 1000w Halogen light shining onto the roof to get some additional light on the subject, And the background which will create some intrigue was an ordinary white board ...interesting huh, there was a small amount of correction in Photoshop due to the yellow ting from the halogen lights, next time though I should tune my camera to the colour temperature of the lights for better results

:star::star: Photo shoots - Whats next :star::star:

More model shoots on the way ........however look forward to warmer weather and the opportunity to take some scenic nature and animal shots, maybe another visit to Healesville is overdue or maybe Werribee Open range zoo

Stay tuned for the results.

"Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still." - Dorothea Lange

Things have recently lifted off over the last month or two, what can I say, it seems that my career in photography is really starting to lift off however I cannot take full credit as there are some people behind the scenes

I wish to thank Maria Pau, my coach and manager, she is an incredible person and a great friend to have and I appreciate and respect her as a person, I also like to thank Joseph Sirucka for his unlimited knowledge of cameras, equipment, and techniques, I have learned so much from him and know there is so much more to go, he is an excellent person to work with and look forward to many more, he is a trustful and loyal friend.

I feel that I am on the brink at the moment, the shutter poised, the lens focused on the final outcome and the camera ready to record the actions in the making, its a weird feeling, both exhilarating and also somewhat daunting all at the same time, however what’s life if you don’t live it to the fullest and give everything 120% and all of your attention and hard work, photography to me is that area of my life and I dedicate myself and all my efforts on this area of my life, I look back and cannot believe that I started out with a $20 Kemmart camera and now today I shoot with a camera worth 1000x more, incredible isn't it

If someone had told me that was the case when I first picked up a camera I would have told them that they were joking and had no idea, but now that I am here I am thank full for past experiences and the future events that are yet to happen.

I also have an opportunity to change from working at my current job to moving into a position thats within the photographic industry, I have an interview next week with Dominic from Dragon Image, I look forward to meeting with him after our few conversations on the phone, he went out of his way to assist me with my lighting purchase and I highly appreciate this gesture.

More news as it develops
